In March this year, the Covid-19 pandemic forced many companies to re-think their day to day operations and rapidly embrace remote working at scale. Seven months on and online engagement and connection still remains as important as ever. The aim now is to not only connect employees, retain and motivate as they work remotely but to boost productivity through smart technology adoption.

With over 75 million daily active users, Microsoft Teams connects employees across the globe, allowing them to collaborate seamlessly with a single platform for meetings, calls and chat, all backed by the ability to file-share and co-author in real time. By layering on the low-code development solution built on *Common Data Service, Power Platform, MS Teams enables users to experience apps, virtual agents, process automation and data visualizations without the need to switch between systems. Allowing your team to complete tasks more smoothly while saving time and effort. With Power Platform your team can create tailored apps, embed bots to answer common questions or locate documents faster than ever before.

This powerful integration creates an optimised digital workspace to aid remote working. Some core features and updates that are available or that are coming soon for this integration include;

Microsoft Power Apps:

Add custom-made Power Apps to your MS teams interface with one click. These simple yet effective business applications can be made with a user-friendly drag-and-drop interface to address specific business needs and streamline processes. Although Power Apps encourages business leaders to build on low-code easily, it can also help professional developers accelerate the app building process with Microsoft announcing that professional developers will soon be able to build Power Platform connectors with Azure API Management and Azure functions to any MS hosted, third-party, legacy or line of business apps. Power Apps built with these new connectors can be deployed to Teams easily with no stand-alone power apps licencing requirements.

Microsoft Power Automate:

Streamline communications with new Power Automate triggers and actions built specifically for Teams, including custom message extensions and automated @ mentioning. Coming soon, a new Power Automate app for MS Teams that will provide easy to use templates for common automation scenarios within MS Teams. This new update will feature an easy-to-use building experience to allow users to build flows from scratch or to quickly make changes to pre-existing templates. In addition, users will soon be able to create and manage custom approvals directly in Teams with integrations to leading electronic document signing software such as Adobe Sign and DocuSign.

Microsoft Power Virtual Agents:

Quickly get up and running with chatbots from Power Virtual Agents, thanks to one-click using templates available in GitHub. Single sign-on for Virtual Agents in Teams further creates a seamless experience. The new Power Virtual Agents app for Teams provides a low-code authoring experience to create custom chatbots by adding questions for the bot to ask and messages in response to the user.

Microsoft Power BI:

Power BI has a simple 'share to teams' feature which allows users to share content directly into a particular team or team channel with a rich thumbnail preview. Coming soon is an enhanced Power BI app for Teams which will allow users to quickly create data visualizations from Excel datasets within MS Teams. Further, it will allow the sharing of reports to a chat or channel while maintaining the filtering of the report so it is easier to start a discussion around a particular finding.

The integration between Microsoft Teams and Power Platform helps organisations stay productive in hybrid work environments bringing and creating the tools they need into a single centralised digital workspace to in turn boost productivity and create a more seamless flow for work-day information.
